PIER stands for "Public Interest Energy Research", and is a program of the California Energy Commission. The purpose of the study is to gain a better understanding of the factors that affect the performance of DHW systems in the field, and to quantify the savings achieved by DHW control systems and other energy-saving measures. In the new study, HMG will conduct field surveys and collect long-term performance data from multifamily buildings throughout California. As part of the research team, EDC will support the data collection activities and provide additional logged data that will be included in the analysis and final report.
